What happened during the Arte City 2019 in Bologna?

Bologna’s Arte City 2019 had just ended. Fortunately, some exhibitions still remain open for a while. Overall, there were over 100 events mentioned in the official programme of the Institution Bologna Musei, thereof 17 curated projects and a special event. This was the performance “les gens d’Unterpan”, where the audience was invited to participate. Moreover, the SetUp Plus proposed around 20 happenings in town. Additionally, there were many galleries, art spaces and private initiatives, which completed the huge offer. Not surprisingly, it was impossible to visit everything, although, the Arte City was this year expanded to a real art week.

Nevertheless, 140.000 people attended the main programme, comprising the exhibition “Mika Rottenberg” at the MAMbo – Museo d’Arte Moderna di Bologna, the sound-installation “Again Anew. Before the film” by Michele Spanghero at the historic Cinema Modernissimo, Leandro Erlich’s “Collection de Nuages” at the Oratorio di San Filippo Neri, Geert Goiris personal exhibition at the Palazzo De’ Toschi and Massiomo Kaufmann’s site-specific installation at the Palazzo d’Accursio.

Since some exhibitions were open before the official start with “Goran Trbuljak. Before and After Retrospective” at the Villa delle Rose, we already made ten proposals during the art week. In the following, we will point at several events, so you can review exhibitions, which you visited, discover what you missed or get an idea, what you might visit in the next days, if you are in the area. You will find a selection of the main exhibitions, but also several collateral events.
