Our Artworks of the Month 2024 where unexceptionally dedicated to photography. Since the first artworks were executed by photographers, we decided to continue with this technique to allow you to see various contemporary approaches. Moreover, we reviewed the Bolognese Art Week 2024 with articles about the uncountable venues of the ART CITY and the ARTE FIERA. In May we visited the 60th Venice Biennale and highlighted the main exhibitions in the Giardini and the Arsenale.
January
2024 started with Anna di Prospero’s photo “Trieste Central Station”, which points to the second eldest station of her series “The Memory of the Railway Stations”. Here, a woman dressed in red is running to the building. Is she late?
Conversely, for the edition 2024 of the ART CITY in Bologna we were early enough to give you some proposals of exhibitions before the start of the 47th ARTE FIERA.
February
In February, Tamara Stoffers deplored her obliged leave in “The Home we lost”. Her series with the same name documents and digests the event.
Moreover, the Bolognese ART WEEK was on focus. We visited the anniversary edition of the ARTE FIERA, who paid a special attention to the early days of its 50 years of existence. However, there was also a lot of contemporary art on view.
During the White Night of the ART CITY there were uncountable venues in Bologna. We presented nine of them to you.
Additionally, several exhibitions proposed in the context of the ART CITY were longer on view.
March
With Patricia Lascabannes’ “116 (Ascension)” we glanced into a special staircase.
April
Mary Ellen Bartley allowed us with “Large White Bottle and Shadow” not only insides into her own artistic work, but also referred to a famous Bolognese painter and etcher whose oeuvre is involved.
May
May 2024 was the month of the opening of the 60th Biennale di Venezia with the title “Foreigners Everywhere”. In a first article we pointed to the part in the Giardini of the international art exhibition.
June
Since we skipped the May Artwork of the Month, the one for June was a diptych created by two artists: Manjari Sharma & Irina Rozovsky.
July
July was once again Biennale Month, when we presented the main exhibition of “Foreigners Everywhere” in the Arsenale.
August
Summer Break
September
Marie Cécile Thijs seems to rearrange Dutch still-lifes. Though she isolates renown elements and gives them a new life.
October
Angèle Etoundi Essamba has decided to reflect in her work on the identity of black women. “A-FIL-IATION 28” is an excellent example.
November
In November, Amélie Viale made the impossible possible: she is “Walking on Water”.
December
Also Alessia Rollo pointed on an unusual kind of movement. However, here it is not herself but a forest who is walking.
Thank you for following us in 2024. We hope you’ll be again our guest in 2025!
