2015 revisited

Sphere made of numbers on white background

Due to our moving to Italy, we only restarted our activities in January 2015. With this the focus is not only on art in public space, but changed more to report on exhibitions and presentation of international artists via the artwork of the month. First we published only on our Facebook website. However, since July 2015 we have our new regular website, where we included as well most of the articles and photo documentations starting from January 2015. In addition there is an archive of the old publications as well.

January

Traditionally the year of art starts in Bologna with the ARTEFIERA, the ART CITY and its collateral events. We have shown some impressions of the ARTEFIERA and the ART CITY WHITE NIGHT. There are images from “PUBLIC COLLECTION – Bologna” by Alexandra Pirici & Manuel Pelmus who performed famous artworks. We visited Adiacenze, with its solo exhibitions “La natura (mai) morta” by Elsa Salonen and the cooperated “Paperpools” by Rainer Splitt with works coming from the Berlin based Werkstattgalerie. Together with the Spazio Testoni in Bologna the Werkstattgalerie presented the exhibition “Check Point” with sculptures by Fabrizio Pozzoli and photos by Benjamin Reich and Lea Golda Holterman. The Gallleriapiù offered a group exhibition called “Altrimenti che essere“ and we visited Mitchell McAuley in his workshop.

February

vers_le_ciel

In February we published our first artwork of the month. It was provided by the French-Peruvian artist Gloria Li Mir. “Vers le ciel” (To the sky) is an example of her research about white as colour with all its possibilities of reflexion.

March

14 Tage Sonne in Suedfrankreich

The month of March brought “14 Tage Sonne in Südfrankreich – ab heute” (14 days of sun in the south of France – from today) by the German artist Kirsten Klöckner. The watercolour painting is part of her series Wunschprogramm (desired programme), where people can express wishes, that she transforms in artworks.

Moreover in March Adiacenze presented the show “FEMINA. Life of the clothes of Sveva Zamboni” by Fratelli Broche curated by Silvia Mei. Through the installation of clothes, accessories and a video one could follow the life of the imaginary personality Sveva Zamboni.

April

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

Margaret Michel offered in April with “Les joueuses de Cartes” (The card players) a Frankenstein like installation. Here the American-Irish artist makes chairs move sluggishly around a table: a reflexion about nature, the human being and technology.

May

minolta-digital-camera-2

In May we met Véronique Champollion’s sculpture “Le Printemps de Botticelli” (The Spring of Botticelli). Lost in daydreams she was scattering flowers somewhere in a park in Nice, France, instead of hanging around in the Galleria degli Uffizi in Florence, Italy.

Also in May we posted photos from two Bolognese exhibitions: “Drawings Storage” conceived and curated by Giovanna Sarti in the Goethe-Zentrum and “Nanni Menetti: Sotto zero” in the Galleria Studio G7.

June

#6_Obwohl

The artwork of the month June was chosen from Thyra Schmidt’s exhibition “Blaue T-Shirts, Jeans und Turnschuhe” (Blue T-Shirts, Jeans and Trainers). “Obwohl …” (Although …) is a printed text which might be seen as text, but as well as an image.

Three Bolognese exhibitions attracted our attention:

KateNewby

“Where the trees line the water that falls asleep in the afternoon.” A group show at the Gallery P420, with works of Rodrigo Hernández, Clare Grill and Kate Newby, curated by Chris Sharp.

GiulioMaulini

Adiacenze presented the group exhibition “E lo fecero a pezzi” by the artists Giulia Carpentieri, Irene Fenara, Giulio Maulini and Andrea Parenti, curated by Teresa Serra and Pietro Cortona.

For “Inventarium” at the Galleriapiù Giovanni Gaggia reflected via drawings the Ustica Massacre, which happened in June 1980, when a plane from Bologna on its way to Palermo crashed in the Tyrrhenian Sea, close to the island Ustica.

July/August: Summer break

Sommer

September

Cyclops-Post

After the summer break the September artwork of the month was “Cyclope” (Cyclops) by the German painter Rosemarie Krefeld. It is a good example how Rosemarie constructs picture out of abstract geometric forms. Nevertheless the result inspires to discover the personage that the title evokes.

October

5 minutes free Zone1

For the month of October the Italian artists Rebecca Ballestra & Lucia Palmero offered “5 minutes free zone”. The solar parasol was originally used to provide electricity to the refugees in Ventimiglia blocked at the French border to recharge their cell phones. In the installation at the Spazio Testoni it supplied iPhones to show videos about the refugee situation there.

Spaghetti

The Italian artist Giulia Bonora cooked sculptures for the FOOD PROJECT: “Il gesso come la farina” (The plaster as the flour). We participated at the live streaming of the creation of the “Spaghetti all’Amatriciana” at the Gallleriapiù.

Liz, Oil on paper, 75 cm x 100 cm

The Galleria B4 presented the exhibition “Volti oltre” (More than faces) by Alessandra Alma Masi. Besides many painted portraits of well-known and unknown personalities, there was as well a video projection of live recorded portraits.

Just before the end of the Biennale “All the Worlds Futures” we started our reflexions about this year’s exhibition in Venice. Inspired by the Arena subject of reading “Das Kapital” by Karl Marx, we focused in the first part on three artistic approaches to conditions of labour.

November

ZesteNL

Marie Cagnasso contributed the artwork of the month in November. The French ceramist created the porcelain sculpture “Zeste de mer” (Zest of the sea). It captures the impression of a relatively calm sea, which reflects the sunrays so that it is meant to be only the skin of something else.

Picnic

Luciano Leonotti’s photo exhibition “Rituali” (Rituals) at the Bolognese Gallery L’Ariete Artecontemporanea invited to assist to Italian contemporary Rituals. The images are surprisingly different from what one might expect.

Linea Rossa WS

Alan Maglio and Fabio Giampietro drew a red line through the Spazio Testoni. Their photo and painting exhibition “Linea Rossa” started at the Milanese Central Station. Urban portraits directed finally to Bologna.

MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

Artistic views on the world order were presented in the second part of our Biennale reflections. Taryn Simon showed how the capitalist world order is presenting itself; The Propeller Group interpreted the confrontation of two opposing systems and Kutlug Ataman portrayed a Capitalist Player.

December

ZEITLÖCHER

The last artwork of the month in 2015 was offered by the German artist Anke Heeleman. She took us on a time journey via time holes; an installation in the FOTOTHEK Weimar.

Thank you to following us in our first year of activity with a new shape. We hope you’ll be our guest in 2016, too!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
